Maxis Wireless Broadband

Currently I am using Maxis Broadband services which is a 3G High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) service. It promises up to 15 times faster than the conventional dial-up. Compared to the complicated installation processes or worse, need technicians to come to your home for installation from some other service providers, Maxis Broadband is easy to install and activate. Really, nothing comes easier than plug in and play! When you start your laptop or desktop computer and plug in the Maxis USB Modem (E220), the installation is almost automatic with nothing to configure. Activation of the service is within 24 hours but I had mine working in just 2-3 hours and I am living in the Klang Valley.

The modem really looks like the one in the brochure above. Just 9cm x 4 cm in size which can fit into your palm (I mean your hand) or pocket. It connects to your laptop or computer via a USB cable and it is totally wireless with nothing else to the electric socket. Do check if your area has the 3G (HSDPA) coverage before you sign up for the modem. Otherwise, you will be only getting Edge service which is available at cheaper packages. Currently, the USB Modem (E220) package is going for RM 138 and it comes with an 18 month contract. I am happy with the speed and connection so far.
