Apam Balik and Curry Puffs

I had some apam balik and curry puffs for tea time snack yesterday and they tasted really good. Perhaps it was after a long time that I had this snack and the peanuts and sweet corn in them were really appetizing.

Apam Balik is a bread like puff with sugar, corn, and coarse nut in the middle. It is almost like thick pancakes with coarse peanut butter and sweet corn in them. Just like any pancakes, this snack is best eaten hot from the pan. There is also a crispy variety that are cooked on little pans as seen from the photo on the right and folded in halves. Apam Balik are usually sold at roadside stalls where you see hawkers having 6-8 little pans and busy pouring in the batter and using a sharp knife or instrument to cut out the cooked apam baliks.

So while the curry puffs tasted savory, it went really well with the Apam Balik or sweetened peanut pancakes.
