Auckland is a lovely, modern city in the North Island of New Zealand. Auckland is made up of Auckland City, home to over 400,000 people, Manukau City, North Shore City and Waitakere City and it also comprises Waiheke Island, the Little and Great Barrier Islands and the Mokohinau Islands which are actually about 100 km from the main business centre of Auckland – so as you can appreciate, it is a vast and sprawling city and one that is home to a vast array of different communities.
Auckland is New Zealand’s premier convention and incentive destination with a diverse range of hotels, venues, attractions and touring options. A number of cheap hotels in Auckland are very close to major attractions and events. As a guest, you’ll appreciate the superb Auckland Hotels accommodation location that puts some the city's best attractions, entertainment and restaurants at your doorstep.

That's a good summary of the popular destinations to visit in New Zealand. If you are doing more of a sightseeing holiday then I would suggest checking out the south island of New Zealand, in particular Queenstown and Milford Sound.
