Coconut Crab

This is a Coconut Crab climbing a tree. The coconut crab climbs coconut palms to get at coconuts, which it breaks open with its powerful pincers and eats. It is found on the islands of the South Pacific and Indian oceans.

  4. Thanks for your comments. This is indeed a unique species of crab because it lives on land instead of by the sea. Eats coconut.

@ boliyou: Not sure if the crab taste like coconut or not. :D

  8. it eats coconuts but thats only part of its diet it also eats any garbage it comes across therefore natives of the south pacific usually capture the crabs then feed them a diet of just coconut for a few months if one doesent do that you can only safely eat the claws
