Stable diet

"No food tastes as good as the food you eat when you're cheating on a diet."
-Derl Keefer

If you keep having to separate your clothes in your cupboard to "before" and "after", dieting that is, then maybe it is time to swear off yo-yo dieting. You can't live on celery forever! Up and down dieting is bad for the body, wrecks havoc to the emotions and do it in for the spirit. Avoid the temptation to shed a few kilos quickly on a diet that you can't sustain. Yo-yo dieting leads to frustration. Easy off leads to easy on.

Take the long view, think months, not days. Think about it as a life time healthy eating habits. That late night infomercial spokesperson with the fifteen-inch (40 cm) waist may say that she lost 20 pounds (9 kg) in two weeks, but she may not be talking about weights. She might be talking about her basset hound that ran away! Stability is key to successful dieting.

Adopt a plan that will meet your desire to be fit next year, not just your desire to look good next week. If you're going to hide the Gummi bears, then burn that map to their den!
