Exploring the Cities of Barcelona and Berlin

Barcelona is the second largest Spanish city in population and the principal industrial and commercial center of the country. Barcelona has a long sporting tradition and is well known after it has hosted the successful 1992 Summer Olympics as well as several matches from the 1982 Football World Cup.

Barcelona has a lot to offer tourist in terms of architectural monuments and a feast of beautiful buildings. Consider the The Sagrada Família church (photo on the right), which is one of the remarkable work of architect Antoni Gaudí, can be seen throughout the city. There are also many museums, venues for live music and theaters, opera theaters and concert halls. If you prefer the outdoors, Barcelona also have many parks and beaches for the whole family.

Berlin is the capital and largest city of the Federal Republic of Germany. The metropolis is home to world-renowned universities, research institutes, sporting events, orchestras, museums and personalities. Berlin's urban landscape and historical legacy has made it a popular setting for international film productions. Recognized for its festivals, contemporary architecture, nightlife and avant-garde arts, Berlin has evolved into a focal point for individuals attracted by liberal lifestyle, modern zeitgeist and low cost of living.

The reconstructed Ishtar Gate of Babylon at the Pergamon Museum (photo on the left) is one of the museums situation on the Museum Island is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is situated in the northern part of the Spree Island between the Spree and the Kupfergraben. Berlin is also house to numerous orchestras, major opera houses, and theaters. Berlin is known for its numerous beach bars along the river Spree. Together with the countless cafés, restaurants and green spaces in all districts, they create an important source of recreation and leisure time.
