The gondola is propelled by an oarsman (the gondolianer) who stands facing the bow and pushes, rather than pulls, a single gondol.

In 1562 it was decreed that all gondolas should be painted black to stop people making an ostentatious show of their wealth. For special occasions they were decorated with flowers. A gondola for passengers may have a small open cabin, for their protection against sun or rain. Today, gondola rides are expensive and usually taken by tourists. Some though may still be in private ownership and use.

Sing in the Car

It is most certainly not a joke to be caught day and day out in traffic jams. It is pressure rising and tension building to be in traffic jams. Worse still when we need to run the same errands week after week in similar manner. What can help lessen the stress during these circumstances? Instead of taking your frustrations by telling others how to drive or cursing, why not give your vocal chords a harmonious workout? Your heard right, sing along to mood lifting songs and catchy tunes.

Go ahead and turn on the radio to your favourite station. Put in a tape or CD that really gets your blood pumping and feet tapping. Then sing along. Croon, hum, warble and worship. The choice is in your hands. Use the steering wheel as a drum set. Don't worry about what other drivers may think. You'll probably put a smile on their faces too. Before you know it, you'll arrive at your destination with a smile of your own.

Deep Breathing to Relieve Stress

Sometimes after a long day at work on the computer, I find myself really feeling stiff and tired. One of the reason is because of the lack of movement, shallow breathing has cause fatigue and tiredness. It lowers level of oxygen and raises levels of carbon monoxide in the blood. It also make the heart rate and blood pressure rise which is an added stress on the body.

I guess when the tension mounts, I need to do some deep breathing exercise. You can also give this a try. Put your feet flat on the floor and rest your hands in your lap. Begin to relax your body by dropping your shoulders and closing your eyes. Then take a deep breath through your nose, while slowly counting to four. Exhale through your mouth to a slow count of four. Do this four times. You should feel your body relaxing and your fatigue lifting.

Break Your Day to Bite Size Pieces

Have you ever felt so overwhelmed that one look at your schedule and you feel like you ready to jump back to bed instead of take on the world? But the day will seem more manageable if we take it one moment at a time. Think of a jigsaw puzzle. When you dump a thousand pieces on the table, it looks like a mess, an overwhelming impossibility. If we give up and put all the pieces back in the box, nothing happens. You start by finding the edge pieces, looking for corners, sorting by colour, and slowly the final picture begins to take shape.

If today looks like a five-thousand-piece puzzle, start small. jobs. Handle only this morning or this hour or the next five minutes. Your day may turn out to be an unexpected masterpiece.

1. Holidays in the summer are long? Not sure as I live in a tropical country with rain and shine all year long and we do not have these holidays for months at a time.

2. Chicken wings are my favorite things to grill.

3. My thoughts are on food now after the grill question in #2. I love Nandos Chicken. Photo included to share with you what I mean.

4. Going to visit my parents is what I'm most looking forward to this weekend!

5. My favorite book so far this summer is anything from Jodi Picoult.

6. Having my cup of coffee is the best way to begin a day.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to visit my parents, tomorrow my plans include reading and blogging and Sunday, I want to rest!

A young man was getting ready to graduate from college.
For many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer's showroom
and knowing his father could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted.
As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had
purchased the car.

Finally, on the morning of his graduation his father called him into his private study.
His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and told him how much he loved him.
He handed his son a beautiful wrapped gift box.
Curious, but somewhat disappointed, the young man opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible, with the young man's name embossed in gold.
Angrily, he raised his voice to his father and said,
"With all your money you give me a Bible?"
And stormed out of the house, leaving the Bible.


Many years passed and the young man was very
successful in business.
He had a beautiful home and wonderful family, but realized his father was very old and thought perhaps he should go to him.
He had not seen him since that graduation day.
Before he could make arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had passed away, and willed all of his possessions to his son.
He needed to come home immediately and take care of things.
When he arrived at his father's house, sudden sadness and regret filled his heart.


He began to search through his father's important papers and saw the still
new Bible, just as he had left it years ago.
With tears, he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages.
His father had carefully underlined a verse, Matt 7:11,
"And if ye, being evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Heavenly father which is in heaven, give to those who ask Him?"
As he read those words, a car key dropped from the back of the Bible.
It had a tag with the dealer's name, the same dealer who had the sports car he had desired.
On the tag was the date of his graduation, and the words...
PAID IN FULL.
