What is your favorite carnival/amusement park ride?

Roller coaster.

How do you react in uncomfortable social situations?

Ignore and walk away if possible. Keep quiet.

Salad

On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how much do you enjoy discussing deep, philosophical topics?

6-8. Really depends on the topic and the person I am talking to. If the person is not dogmatic and argumentative, the score will be higher. I mean if the person is mature enough to disagree without being disagreeable. Everyone can have strong opinions about something but let others make their own decisions after stating the point.

Main Course

Did you get a flu shot this year? If not, do you plan to?
Is this a yearly thing? I didn't and am not aware of this being a yearly thing.

Approximately how many hours per week do you spend watching television?

None. I don't have any television.

Killing Me Softly

Not sure why I am starting this post with Roberta Flack's Killing Me Softly. Perhaps what I am going to write next is sentimental and mushy.

I was 16 and he was 17. Just like any other teenager, I wanted to know how it feels like to have someone special. I guess I was not really ready for any long term relationship at that time. The supposedly whirlwind of a romance only lasted less than a year. He wanted to get physical too fast and too soon and I am just not ready for THAT kind of a relationship.

I have to admit that I was the one who call the relationship off as I was not feeling comfortable anymore with his advances. How did he take the break up? Not good, I would say. He called me at unearthly hours drunk, it seems according to his friends! Surely there is a more amiable way to do this? If only I had known about writing a dear john letter then, things might not have gotten so messy.

I didn't get back into another relationship after that. My next relationship resulted in a happy marriage of 12 years and counting. Perhaps I should change the title of this post to Killing HIM Softly? I am not being mean nor funny here, just musing. At 16 and 17, I think we can both get over such episodes in life wiser and more mature. Enjoy the song...

At The End of the Day, We're Only Human...

1. Do you think as humans, we'd be better off *without* feelings? Why/why not?

Humans without feelings will not be humans. We will be robots or machines. That is why we feel for movies like Edward Scissorhands and Bicentennial Man

2. So, you have a bad day at work. You put up with the day and then you go home. What do you do to relax and prepare for another work day?

Rest with a cup of coffee ( I seldom drink tea), put on some instrumental soft music, take a warm bath and go to bed.

3. Do you worry about the big things (work, finances, tests) or the little things (broken cars, the house not being clean, a tear in your shirt)? Why?

Both, I guess. When things are not working as it should, it causes stress and anxiety whether big or small.

Vacation rentals

Winter is here to many living in the Northern Hemisphere of our globe. While those living in tropical countries may gasp with awe at seeing snow on trees and buildings, the fact of the matter is winter is not an easy season to live through. Many would rather go to sunny beaches with the tropical palm trees at the backdrop and sunbathing on the beach at this time of the year.

Did I say beaches? Well, you can find some popular beaches at the Miami Beach, Florida and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in the U.S.A. But what about accommodations? With the concept of timesharing where vacation rental by owner is practiced, the use and costs of running the resort or condominiums are shared among the owners. By extension of this, some owners are also letting out their beautiful condominiums, villas, luxury townhouses, cottages, cabins and islands to the public for a certain period of time.

You can check out these amazing
Myrtle Beach vacation rentals and Miami Beach vacation rentals or believe it or not rent an island for a more private retreat too!

1. Are you a mentalist or an illusionist?
Mentalist-belief that everything exists in the mind: the belief that all objects of knowledge, including the physical universe, ultimately have no existence except as creations of the mind

Illusionist-

1. magician: a performer of magical tricks

2.painter who makes pictorial illusions: an artist who creates pictorial illusions

I don't really know the words so use dictionary to clarify the definitions first. I am neither a mentalist or illusionist, I guess. I believe things exist and not only the physical things which my eyes can see but also spiritual beings exist. Not ghost or spirits but God and angels which the eyes cannot see. As for illusionist, I don't consider myself creative nor artistic at all.

2. You’re on a roll. Do you feel the roll you’re on?

Again I am not too sure what on a roll means. According to that interview (transcript), I gather it is being popular or something? To cause others to take note? So how shall I understand or answer this? People don't usually feel they are on the roll, I guess. They always want to be more successful if they are on the entertainment business or any other business, generally. The day one say they are at the Top, they are already falling.

3. How many performances a week?

Not a performer either.

4. Is there a little bit of Evel Knievel in you?

Nope. I try to live my life safe and sound.

5. How much of what you do is physical, by the way?

Next to none unless household chores are considered physical. Actually, they can be. Argh...scrubbing, mopping, cleaning, washing...phew!

Soft spot for Wooden Furniture

I admit, I have a soft spot for wooden furniture. So when I saw this furniture store, I kind of went goo-goo-gaa-gaa over it. In case I am not being professional in my tone here, I meant to say I was absolutely enthralled and captivated by the site and of course the amazing furniture sets that you can imagine or dream of.

I mean the look at this
Solid & Grand Scaled 4 Post Canopy King Queen Bed Bedroom Set (photo on top) which I think only exist in fairy tale stories fit for the princess or the royal family. After the bedroom, shall we adjourn to the living room? Actually the site has endless of variety and out of the hundreds of furniture sets there, this set caught my eye. Contemporary Modern Sofa Loveseat Living Room Set (photo on the right). It has a clean look to it. Not too cluttered with too much designs. One can be relax in the midst of such atmosphere.

Do you have a home office? Need a refurbish so you can feel more at ease to get the creative juices working? Well, there is a solution here as well. Check out this Classic Brown Oak Home Office Armoire Desk (photo on the left) and you can also have your favourite office sofa to go with that lovely compact Armoire Desk.

Therapeutic Moisturizing Lotion

Onesome: Therapeutic-- household addons: Do you use candles or aroma therapy or bath soaps or salts around your place?

Although I don't use any aroma therapy products but a friend gave me dried lavender hand picked from her own garden and they smell lovely. I do want to try some potpourri if I have the time or mood.

Twosome: Moisturizing?-- How's the weather been? It's the rainy season in the US; what's happening where you live?

It is also raining a lot in Malaysia here. Weather here is humid. I use moisturizer due to sensitive and dry skin. The air here is not really dry though.

Threesome: Lotion-- Since it's Winter in the Northern Hemisphere, it's dry skin time (yes, you too, Mark!). Do you have any hand lotion suggestions for the gang?

I am not sure if baby lotion is strong enough a product to recommend. I use Johnson and Johnson Baby lotion.

A Futile Pursuit

On November 9, 1949, James Kidd, a 70-year-old copper miner, disappeared in the mountains of Arizona, U.S.A. Several years later, after he was declared legally dead, his pencil-written will was discovered, along with his investments worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. In his will Kidd stipulated that his money be used for research to find "some scientific proof of a soul of the human body which leaves at death."

Soon afterward, over 100 purported researchers and scientists applied for the funds. There were months of court hearings and thousands of claims suggesting the existence of an invisible soul. Finally, the judge awarded the money to two reputable research organizations. Well over half a century later, those researchers have yet to produce "scientific proof of a soul of the human body which leaves at death."

That was an excerpt that I had read recently. Well, my bible studies showed this to be true instead:

Ecclesiastes 9:5,6,10 For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten. Also, their love and their hate and their jealousy have already perished, and they have no portion anymore to time indefinite in anything that has to be done under the sun. All that your hand finds to do, do with your very power, for there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in She´ol, the place to which you are going.

Ecclesiastes 3:19, 20 For there is an eventuality as respects the sons of mankind and an eventuality as respects the beast, and they have the same eventuality. As the one dies, so the other dies; and they all have but one spirit, so that there is no superiority of the man over the beast, for everything is vanity. All are going to one place. They have all come to be from the dust, and they are all returning to the dust.

Ezekiel 18:4 Look! All the souls—to me they belong. As the soul of the father so likewise the soul of the son—to me they belong. The soul that is sinning—it itself will die.

The Bible does not teach that any part of a human survives death. Yet, it does offer an unmistakably clear hope for those who die, namely the resurrection.

Got funds from AlRajhi Bank

Just a small update from my previous post on withdrawing funds from Paypal to debit card, I got the funds in my Al Rajhi debit card today. Although Paypal said funds will be transfered from 5-7days, I got mine in the Al Rajhi savings account within 3 days. All transactions from Al Rajhi Bank can also be viewed online. So all is well and fine.

So it is possible now for Malaysians to withdraw their funds via debit card. This means even students, self employed folks and housewives can earn with Paypal. This is good news.

Wordless Wednesday

This is named Strings Attached! What thoughts come to your mind when you see this photo?

An interesting gift

Hmm...for many folks this is the time for gift giving and shopping. As I've wrote about the pet peeves of holiday shopping in a previous post, most folks hate the crowd and also the queuing at counters during the holiday shopping season. Nevertheless, there is an interesting gift that I would like to share with you. Have you thought about getting a digital photo frame?

What is that you may ask? Digital photo frames or digital picture frames are frames that enable you to view your photos as slides or even video clips. It has built in speakers so you don't need any extra equipment to play your videos and photo slides. It comes in the 7"-15" frame sizes and a variety of colours. All you need is:
  • 1. Snap your photos or videos
  • 2. Transfer your memory card into your Digital Photo Frame
  • 3. Using your remote control choose your favorite slide show
Viola! As simple as 1-2-3

Shops are crowded and people overindulge.

Save Buckets

Do you find it a hassle to go shop to shop to search out for affordable prices to get a digital product and electronic goods worth your money? Or consider the time needed to even just to sit for hours browsing the internet site after site in search for cheaper products? Wouldn't it be swell when someone took the trouble to compile a list of some of the fantastic products at very affordable and attractive prices. Check out these prices for these wide range of digital camera, ipods, mobile phones, laptops, Plasma TVs, and much more all under one site. If you can't find the right price at the site, drop in an email and you will have updated notification when the product becomes available within your price range.

Five pet peeves or dislikes associated with shopping.

Give Me Five pet peeves or dislikes associated with shopping.

1. Looking for parking space during sales.

2. The crowd that is at the shops. Had to queue for trying out clothes or wait while browsing some of the stuffs.

3. Queue at the cashier. Sometimes with the crowd waiting and the cashier herself stressed out, many unwanted incidents can happen.

4. I like window shopping when I have the leisure time. Walking at the mall is a form of exercise for me. But I dislike shopping at unfamiliar shops when I need to BUY stuffs. It takes more time to search for what I want.

5. When parents allow their kids to throw tantrum at the shops. It drives me crazy!

Ski Property in Chamonix, France

Chamonix is a town and commune in eastern France, in the Haute-Savoie département, on the Arve River, near Switzerland and Italy. It is located at the foot of Mont Blanc. It is a popular location for summer and winter resort as it also serves as a starting point for expeditions to ascend the nearby Mont Blanc massif and to explore its glaciers. One of the world's highest cable-car systems links the town with a point near the summit of the Aiguille du Midi (3842 m/12,605 ft). In a concensus in 1999, it had a population of 9,830.

So can you imagine having a chamonix property amidst the back drop of snow peak mountains and beautiful greeneries? How does it feel like to wake up to the clean fresh air and clear blue sky? It is not a dream anymore. With the Ski Property Management company like Free Spirit International there is really a wide variety of choices of apartments and chalets that you can acquire.

Would you like to take a sneak peak at what kind of chamonix property are available? Some folks like the idea wood furnishings and paneling. Well, I for one would love wood panelings for my home but not in a tropical country, of course. Take a look at these gorgeous Chalet in Old Wood. These chalets are located in Les Houches which is a quiet resort village about 6km from Chamonix.

Week Number 93

1) Name an event where the power of the crowd was inspiring.

I guess any sports events. I mean the cheers are deafening.

2) What is your oldest article of clothing that you still wear?

This is a tough one. A maroon coloured business jacket that my mother gave me.

3) If you were to describe your first "real" kiss, what would you say?

Hmm...curiosity, warm, eager...

4) When were you most moved by a ceremony?

My friend's wedding, not so much as the ceremony itself but they sang (the Bride and Groom) a love song to entertain us guests!

5) Show and Tell. What comes to mind first when you see this picture? Or, tell a story if it reminds you of one.

Public Domain Photo

Looks like a Thanksgiving dinner? I could be wrong but that was what was on almost everyone's mind this whole month. I have seen turkey jokes, many photos of meals and dinner for the past two weeks or so.

Paypal to Debit Card-Malaysians

As a Malaysian, I am simply thankful and delighted that Paypal had recently allowed non USA residents to withdraw paypal funds via debit cards. Prior to this you either need a US bank account or credit card to withdraw paypal funds. This being said, I still need to search high and low for the appropriate debit cards because not all debit cards are accepted.

At first I got the NextG debit card from AmBank, and when I could verify my paypal account, I was so excited. Then I was told by Paypal that I could not withdraw funds using a MasterCard. Only Visa is allowed for withdrawal purpose though the verifying went through alright.

I find Steven's blog really informative in providing the neccesary steps in addition to the cards that are currently successful in withdrawing paypal funds using debit cards. He also gave a link to 5xmom's opinion which further helped me decide to go for the Al Rajhi Bank debit card cum ATM and savings account. You have the choice to open a current account too. As this is a rather new bank, there are only about 10 branches or so in the Klang Valley. I went to the Petaling Jaya, New Town one which the address is No.2 Jalan 52/10, PJ New Town.

So this is like my testimonial that I am able to apply for the card and withdraw my paypal funds all on the SAME day. I agreed with 5xmom that service at Al Rajhi Bank is excellent and without hassle.

Resolve

"When there is a will, there is a way."

I have been reading some dieting and juicing books recently. It all comes down to resolve and determination. Dieting is a fifty-fifty proposition: 50 percent will and 50 percent won't. When you decide not to drive down the wrong way on a one way street, you decide there and then based on the fear that your new pearl necklace won't fit around a neck brace.

So many times have these diets promised results without effort. A "healthy" snack bar 3 times a day is all it takes, your favourite chocolate shake for every meal, drink nothing else but "diet" coke, etc. Don't be fooled by these types of fad diets. Changing your diet means to change your way of life. And that will take some resolve. You'll have to decide to change the way you think about food, about comfort, about yourself.

Saying no to food will be the easy part. Saying yes to new attitudes, new disciplines, new life habits-that's the hard part. It's a New You resolution, not a New Year's resolution. So getting started is a "will" thing.

~ TAG ENDS HERE ~

To be honest, I didn't start blogging for the sole purpose of publishing my creative works (not that I have any) or to put my personal life on the internet. I am a rather private person though sociable. I mean I am friendly and likes to make friends but I am still a little reluctant to write very personal stuff online. I started this blog as a means to communicate with my members when I was running a PaidToClick site. I had long closed the site now.

By the time I have decided to close the site, I had a few months and perhaps 20-30 posts by then. I felt that it was a waste to delete this blog as it was named in such a way to be open ended and I can write whatever I want to from then on. I had Adsense ads only from the beginning and I used to put PaidToRead and PaidtoClick banners on the blog. I still have one or two small ones at the bottom. Other than that, since I've learn a few more sites that pay bloggers for posting and also learn some tips at blogging community such as BlogCatalog, I am more serious about earning through blogging now.

This blog is now sponsored by PayPerPost, Blogsvertise, Bloggerwave, and Smorty. I am still on the search for more sites that I can earn from and if any readers and probloggers who are experienced and would like to share more of such similar sites, please be so kind to let me know.

The earnings are used for paying the internet bills for sure and if there is surplus would be channeled to the family's monthly expenses.

* There is only one rule that I would break for this tag and that is to tag another two publishers. I don't know anyone for now but will list them when I find them.

Cartridge Finder

Although I don't use the printer as my hubby takes care of whatever that needs printing done. But as I see how frustrated he gets with the refilling of the ink in the printer and the different ink cartridges that he has to juggle with, it is really not a wonder that I leave all the printing jobs to him. Never the less there are sites on the internet that can help us find out which products we need and get us through to some potential suppliers. One of such site is the Cartridge Finder

Whether for personal or professional use, Cartridge Finder can help locate the suitable suppliers and even provide users with informed choices about the printers and machines in the available market.

Blog Smart - Blog with Smorty

Have you heard of Smorty? This is a site that pays you for blogging about the topics that you like. If you are a blogger like me who doesn't want to be told what to write about anything which we are not familiar with just for a few quick bucks but would genuinely wish to be compensated for the time and creativity to maintain and promote a blog, well, you can blog for money with Smorty.

There are advertisers that need your opinion and reviews on their products and services. If you have more than one blog, then you are also in line to earn better with Smorty. Getting approved is not difficult but all is fair in every business and there are some rules that one need to adhere to. Blogs must have a root domain like www.domain.com and not use www.domain.com/myblog, however one can use subdomains such as www.myblog.domain.com. One is expected to keep a blog live and permanent and not delete post after being paid. Oh, and did I mention that you get paid WEEKLY after the posts are being approved? There is no minimum payout. Approval usually takes within 72 hours. I think this is the shortest waiting period in the market there is. The payment processor used is PayPal.

Nothing gets easier if you want to get paid for blogging, so Blog Smart-Blog with Smorty!

Short Message Service-SMS

The Short Message Service (SMS), often called text messaging, is a means of sending short messages to and from mobile phones. SMS was originally defined as part of the GSM series of standards in 1985 as a means of sending messages of up to 160 characters, to and from GSM mobile handsets. Since then, support for the service has expanded to include alternative mobile standards such as ANSI CDMA networks and Digital AMPS, satellite and landline networks. Most SMS messages are mobile-to-mobile text messages, though the standard supports other types of broadcast messaging as well.

The term SMS is frequently used in a non-technical sense to refer to the text messages themselves, particularly in non-English-speaking European countries where the GSM system is well-established.

I first got into short messaging service (SMS) when my siblings went overseas for studies and my sister who married off to Australia. It does seem awkward at the beginning but the usefulness and often less intrusive method of communication due to different time zone or if they are too busy to speak on the phone, soon made this service really popular with me.

Nevertheless, there is one disturbing trend that I abhor with this service and that is the culture that goes with it. The text abbreviations that completely decimate the English language- grammar, spelling and vocabulary. As a tutor involved in academic education, I cringe at spelling mistakes and the fact that folks using the SMS services just "spell" words according to the homophone of a word rather than the actual spelling.

Personally, I tell whomever that is messaging to type as completely a sentence as possible and I always answer in full sentence and full spelling. What about you? What are your experiences with SMS?

Is your role model someone famous or not? Who is your role model?
I think my role model is world class famous. His name is Jesus Christ.

Which is more important to you: Actions or words?
Actions speaks louder than words. But words are important too.
As apples of gold in silver carvings is a word spoken at the right time for it. - Proverbs 25:11

Do you forgive easily or hold a grudge?
I forgive easily. I have a poor memory in this aspect.

What is the last lie you told? What is the last lie someone told you?
I exercise my right to remain "silent" for this question. Lies are not something to be taken lightly nor tolerated for me personally and my household no matter how small or insignificant.

Would you rather be with someone for the wrong reason or alone for the right reason?
If it is a marriage partner, barring excruciating circumstances such as life threatening issues to self or others (though I have no children) and other such circumstances, I would stick to the husband and work things out no matter how difficult it can be.

If it is some other relationships like friends, be alone for the right reason. Such as when so called friends decide to lead immoral lives, risking their lives with extremes, then no point in carrying on the relationship.

1) What period of your past life do you think or dream about most?

The 20's. That was when I am most energetic and accomplishing much that matters.

2) Describe the kitchen in the house in which you grew up.

My mother is not much of a interior designer or decorator. Cupboard were covered with vinyl. Not sure if I got the material right here. Plastic looking material with smooth surface. All in bright blue! Table tops, cabinets and drawers.

3) In what store would you like to work? Why?

Book stores or vcd stores. Internet cafe is not bad either.

4) What was the most difficult choice you were ever forced to make?

My baptism. My parents are not Christian. Not forced to make this decision but something I need to do obviously.

5) Show and Tell. What comes to mind first when you see this picture? Or, tell a story if it reminds you of one.

Another day of monotony at the office. As Sara was looking out of the window of her office, she wished that she is somewhere sunbathing by the beach. And suddenly she yearns to be at the beach savouring some grilled corn on the cob. She felt her mouth watering.

She quickly finishes typing the invoices and glance repetitively at the clock hung by the wall. How she wished that the hands of the clock would fast forward to the time when Sara will meet up with David at the cozy dine-in restaurant later. She could picture the little restaurant with sweet smelling candles everywhere and the distinctive bouquet of sunflowers by the cashier.

When the clock strikes 5, Sara quickly gathered her stuff and headed out of the office. She need to get home before 6pm so that she can be ready when David arrives. Just as she turns the corner into her lane, she smelled something strange. A few feet away, she saw a stall selling roasted chestnuts. Sara bought a packet and thought to herself, ok, this is not exactly grilled corn on the cob by the beach but roasted chestnuts on my way home sounds just as good!

* Just felt a little creative today.

I am honoured

Wow, I am honoured to be awarded this by fellow blogger Zang. What makes it beautiful is that it was not expected at all. And to top it off, my FIRST award! Thank you Zang.

PS: I am not very good at this tagging thing but there is at least one person that I would like to give this award to. She actually took the trouble to remind me that I have not posted and promise to return to visit my blog when I have done so. Amazing! Hahaha... ZJ

And there is LordManilaStone for his frequent visits and encouragement.

Oh boy, I am really bad at this. Sorry folks, I appreciate all who visited and commented at my blog. Everyone contributed in their own ways. Whether it is something I've read from their blogs or even ideas for the layout, all are appreciated. Blogging is a learning process.

Blogger Related Post Widget

Well, I have been searching for the related post widget for Blogger and the closest that I found so far is the one done by Hoctro. I found this out now by following the instructions at The Online Quest at the bottom link here. It is rather easy and straight forward to follow the instructions.

I edited this post to show that I am no longer putting the related posts by labels on the sidebar. Now I have it within the post footer. Hope this is what you are looking for when you visit my blog here. Thanks for reading.

My least favorite day of the week

Manic Monday Logo

What is your
least favorite day of the week and why?
Thursday. This is a random thought actually. All the days of the week are more or less alright for me. Some days have more chores and activities, others have less but not necessarily better or worse.

What's the best way to end the day?
I can do more reading or perhaps sleep the day away! Take a break and chill out from daily chores.

Which animal would you have left out of the ark?
Fishes and sea creatures? Hahaha...

Seven random facts about me

I wanted to do this tag because I have the time! I got the details from Le Laquet.
By the way, if any of you come across anymore meme or if you feel like starting one, feel free to leave a link here or my chatbox. As for tagging others, I will do the same as Le Laquet, leave it to any readers who would like to be tagged but do let me know if you have done it. YOU ARE TAGGED IF YOU CAN READ THIS!

Link to the person’s blog who tagged you.
Post these rules on your blog.
List seven random and/or weird facts* about yourself.
Tag seven random [?] people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.
Let each person know that they have been tagged by posting a comment on their blog.

1. I love red stilettos though I can't wear overly high heels because of bad back.
2. I don't like cooking and can't manage well in the kitchen.
3. I don't know much about interior design and therefore my place of dwelling is always plain.
4. I only wear Punjabi suits when I am out but I am a Chinese lady.
5. I can't read and write chinese!
6. I love Bollywood more than chinese movies. I can enjoy watching a Hindi or Tamil movie which I don't understand the language much more than Chinese or Cantonese movies which I do understand.
7. I have eaten frog legs before and it tasted like chicken meat albeit a smoother texture.

My first assignment at PayPerPost

My blog was recently approved at PayPerPost and I am anxious to get started. Although this pay for posting is not my first assignment but I see that there are many more writing assignments and earning opportunities at PayPerPost. I had first heard about PayPerPost through Google search. With a domain name like that, it is not difficult to find the site. I was trying to learn the ropes of blogging to the bank, you see.

After finding the site, the next step is to get my blog reviewed and approved. Generally they are looking for English language blogs that are original in content. There is a "maturing time" of 90 days for a blog to be approved too. I was not too confident in my writing earlier and I was not maintaining my blog with daily posting. I had since gain more experiences with the help of fellow bloggers at blog communities. I did more posts and promoted my blogs better and I got approved recently. Besides, knowing that I am paid also add as an incentive to be more focus and the challenge will keep me on my "fingers", so to speak-toes not needed for blogging purposes.

Ah, with the newly acquired avenue for revenue, I hope to be able to pay my internet bills or possibly even subsidize the household income.

1. While visiting in Europe and driving along the countryside you spot a famous castle that has long been empty. Excited you decide to check it out. Your curiosity getting the best of you, you drive through the large iron gates to the castle and get out of your car and walk past the large fountain in the court yard to the main enormous door and before I raise my hand to knock at the beautiful golden knocker, the door creaked open. I push the heavy door apart and peep in. The castle is not neglected at all...

2. Entering the castle you are in a large completely furnished hall and a room with two large sliding doors closed on your right, a beautiful spiral staircase ahead and another room on your left also with closed doors. You decide to take the spiral staircase since I can't resist the magnificence of spiral staircases, picturing myself like a princess walking up those steps.

3. Much to your surprise you find unending rows of rooms in a long hallway. I decided to walk down the hallway when I found a room that has a unique door. It has beautiful carvings of roses and butterflies on it. As I sense a kind of warmth and no danger at all standing in front of this door, I decided to enter. It opens to a balcony instead of a room! There is soft music playing in the background and I found myself swaying as if I am waltzing with someone. I couldn't stop my feet. But it was the sweetest sensation that I am feeling and I never want the music to stop...Alas, the music ended and I slowly retreat out of that balcony and back to my car.

4. Upon leaving and driving off, you know you will never forget this adventure and think to yourself how did I learn to waltz like that? What was that music in the first place? I have never heard anything so sweet in my life.

Friends, visitors and fellow chatters

Dear friends, visitors and fellow chatters,

Please help me make a decision about my blog's layout. There is a poll I've set up at the upper left hand corner. I am undecided at this moment whether I should change it to something less cluttered or perhaps I should say less colourful even. There is a lot of work involved if I do decide to change this layout. Hahaha... If you do like this layout but minus the trimmings, please give me some suggestions as to what I should remove from my blog, especially stuff by the side bars. All your comments and suggestions are appreciated and will be considered. Your visit is much cherished.

Thank you in advance.

Stable diet

"No food tastes as good as the food you eat when you're cheating on a diet."
-Derl Keefer

If you keep having to separate your clothes in your cupboard to "before" and "after", dieting that is, then maybe it is time to swear off yo-yo dieting. You can't live on celery forever! Up and down dieting is bad for the body, wrecks havoc to the emotions and do it in for the spirit. Avoid the temptation to shed a few kilos quickly on a diet that you can't sustain. Yo-yo dieting leads to frustration. Easy off leads to easy on.

Take the long view, think months, not days. Think about it as a life time healthy eating habits. That late night infomercial spokesperson with the fifteen-inch (40 cm) waist may say that she lost 20 pounds (9 kg) in two weeks, but she may not be talking about weights. She might be talking about her basset hound that ran away! Stability is key to successful dieting.

Adopt a plan that will meet your desire to be fit next year, not just your desire to look good next week. If you're going to hide the Gummi bears, then burn that map to their den!

Azhagiya Tamil Magan-Handsome Tamil Lad

Azhagiya Tamil Magan (English: Handsome Tamil Lad) (2007) is a Tamil film directed by Bharathan produced by Appachan starring Vijay and Shriya Saran in lead roles. Namitha, Santhanam and Sriman also star in the movie in supporting roles. The film's score and soundtrack is composed by noted music composer, A. R. Rahman.

Plot

Guru (Vijay) is an athlete and business management student. Abhinaya (Shreya) is the daughter of a business baron (Ashish Vidyarthi). They met and fell in love.

The movie goes on to show how the lovers manage to get the permission of the parents. In the meantime, you get to see a different dimension in the tale while the romantic drama is unfolding. Vijay visualizes some bizarre scenes inside his mind. The scenes are disturbing and worse, they become true in the real life.

A psychiatrist (Dr. Rudran) confirms that it is ESP power and says that the imageries visualized by Guru would actually happen sooner or later. Unfortunately Guru visualizes another scene which he would never like to see happening. Sensing a danger to his sweetheart, he runs away to Mumbai from her to save her.

In Mumbai he stumbles upon a person, who looks alike himself. This gives him a different meaning of the horrible incident visualized by him. Before catching the man, played by Vijay again, Guru gets into an accident and the new man moves to Chennai where he is mistaken as Guru.

Stylish and care free Prasad, the look alike Guru, is a greedy person, who would do anything to earn money and enjoy life. Abinaya mistakes him for Guru and gets him to her house. Sensing his strength, Prasad decides to act as Guru and marry the rich Abhi.

The real Guru comes back and tells everyone the truth. But no one is ready to believe him, as he is outplayed by the wicked Prasad in each and every move. Finally the truth prevails but not before the tensed battle between the two with lot of twists and actions.

Film synopsis from wikipedia

*My views: This movie is a great entertainer. Although I don't understand Tamil and watched the movie without subtitles, I thoroughly enjoyed the songs, dances, humour...err, acting wise that is, the facial expressions, the storyline (which is far from being too complicated or having too many subplots as other Tamil movies) and the costumes.

Week Number 91

1) Which one person would you choose to understand you better?

My sister. And for me to understand her better too. Relationships work both ways.

2) What do you think is the best age to be? Why?

For me is the 20's. Kind of still energetic but not hyper as in teens. Illness had made it less easy for me in my 30's now.

3) Of all the people you know, who would be the easiest to seduce? Why?

My hubby. Well, we are married now, aren't we? laughing

4) What's the best advice you didn't heed?

Go do some exercise. Now I can't fit in to most of my dresses, not to mention to the detriment of my health, emotionally and physically.

5) Show and Tell. What comes to mind first when you see this picture? Or, tell a story if it reminds you of one.

Week Number 90

1) What is the secret to aging contentedly?

I personally think it is to have goals in life that involves more than self. Spirituality and serving God can help one to focus on other issues and in helping others than the ailments of old age.

2) If you had to give up your computer and your TV at home, what would you do for entertainment?

Reading, radio or visit friends more.

3) Name the most embarrassing moment of your life.

Falling on my behind at a skating ring. But then again so do many others.

4) What topic do you feel least comfortable discussing with a lover?

Well, with my husband it is a matter of money and budgeting. I leave it mostly to him because I get easily stressed by figures.

5) Show and Tell. What comes to mind first when you see this picture? Or, tell a story if it reminds you of one.

Looks like a concert. I have not really been in a concert where a band sings before. I am not that interested in bands. However, I have been to the Phantom of the Opera twice. Once in Canada and another time in Singapore and enjoyed it tremendously. I think I have been to one or two musicals and piano/organ concerts too.

Fort Cornwallis - Penang

Entrance to Fort Cornwallis

According to the leaflet about Fort Cornwallis, Francis Light erected a fort of nibong palms at the tip of the cape which called Fort Point and named it after the Governor General in Bengal- Charles Cornwallis soon after taking possession of the island Penang in 1786. Fort Cornwallis was the first military and administrative base of the East India Company and the garrison of Fort Cornwallis consisted of a handful of Europeans who resided within the fort, and Sepoys, who dwelt in attap huts next to the fort. This star shaped fort mounted with cannons along the perimeter and the most famous of these cannons is the Seri Rambai which still located at the northwest bastion of the fort. Today, relics such as chapel, store, cell rooms and the gunpowder magazine are still remaining in this fort. History galleries from the early 1700 and staff with colonial costume now is part of the attraction to visit this fort.

Constructed in 1814 to store explosives. It was designed to minimize the damage caused by an explosion.

Penang Hill

My hubby and I went to Penang recently. Friends who are familiar with Penang took us to Penang Hill. The hill is known as Bukit Bendera in malay, which means Flag Hill. The hill is about 830 meters above sea level. There are two trams or cable trains in service to bring passengers up and down the hill. It costs RM 4 per adult for a two way trip. There are folks staying up the hill too. The first train service starts at 6.30am and the last trip is at 9.30pm. There are trains at half hour intervals.

At mid way up, we need to switch tram. As the tram stopped for 15 minutes, we could take photos of the panoramic view of Penang island. Then suddenly, there was a troop of monkeys that came to greet us! Actually perhaps they were looking for food or something. Nevertheless, it is not allowed nor safe for visitors to feed these wild monkeys. I took some photos though.

On top of the hill, there are tea kiosk, restaurants, souvenir stalls, beautiful gardens, and the old Bellevue hotel. The summit offers a magnificent panoramic view of Georgetown, the mainland and Penang Bridge. The Canopy Walk is open now but alas, we arrived a little too late and it closes at 6 pm.
